Over the last decade, he has been involved in several significant clinical projects and legislative changes in Slovenia. A pilot project,«A Model of Collaboration between Pharmacist and General Practitioner in Slovenia – from Research to New Services,» was transformed into a national reimbursed service in Slovenia, available to all residents. The next project was Seamless Care, which he collaborated on and successfully implemented, resulting in reimbursement in all Slovenian hospitals. He played a key role in the legislative changes in Slovenia (e.g., Pharmacy Act 2017, Sub Act for Hospital Pharmacy 2018), where medication review, pharmacist as a team member, pharmaceutical care, pharmaceutical services, and seamless care are defined as pharmaceutical services only. He is well-included within associations associated with psychopharmacology, psychiatry and pharmacy (European Psychiatric Association-EPA, ESCP). Currently, he is a co-chair of the Section of Psychopharmacology at the European Psychiatric Association-EPA. At the moment he is leading a research project focused on pharmacist prescriber on the national level. He served as a speaker at seven workshops, symposia and courses at the previous European Congresses of Psychiatry. He was also a plenary speaker at the symposia of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy (ESCP Zoom 2021, ESCP Prague 2022, Aberdeen 2023). Still, Matej stays energized by taking time for his hobbies, such as travelling in nature and participating in sports activities with friends. This helps him stay physically and mentally prepared for his professional pursuits.
